I have been helping folks with their Medicare plans for more than 10 years. I will have to say this is my favorite job ever because it’s not really a job, I get to make friends, and I don’t sell anything!
I just help nice people (and a few grouches LOL) enroll in a plan that works best for them. Over the last 10+ years, I have added over 1200 new friends to my contacts. I enjoy it when my clients/friends call me for some help whether it is just a simple question or concern, or a problem with a claim.
I love working with United Healthcare exclusively for Medicare products because they really care about their clients, so much so that have given agents like myself the ability to handle many customer services needs eliminating the need to call an 800 number and play phone bingo. United Healthcare and myself see eye-to-eye on wanting our members to have a pleasant experience and live happier, healthier lives.
Background: I started off my career life as a professional dealership technician thanks to my Dad who is a highly decorated technician with General Motors. Although I loved what I was doing, my son didn’t share the same passion so I went into the computer sales and repair business in 1994 when he was just 10, this allowed me to teach him computer repair, customer service skills, and how to run a business, he graduated high school a year early with certifications that most don’t achieve until they have an additional 4 years of schooling.
I sold my business and moved to Elkin to assist my Mom and Dad, I moved them to the farm I purchased so we could be close. During this time I got my pilot’s license and fell in love with flying, this lead to my becoming a commercial pilot and enjoying traveling all over the US and Mexico. It was while flying that I was introduced to insurance as I was recruited by International Specialty Insurance to develop a disability plan for Commercial Airline Pilots. After a few years doing this I discovered the world of Medicare and loved how it doesn’t seem like a job but more like a trusted advisor that becomes your friend.
In my free time, I enjoy: Boating, Flying, and riding my motorcycle. My Mom says I love anything with an engine.
I love coastal North Carolina and Sebastian Florida, so you never know when I will be answering my phone from a boat while catching a few fish. Most of my clients know this and usually ask where I am when they call.
Family: Debbie is the love of my love and we have been married 39 years this year, seems like only yesterday when we said I do. Our son David Jr. Married the daughter we never had but always wanted Karen, they have both joined us in helping folks with Medicare as well as other insurance needs, they are currently in Myrtle Beach. Mom and Dad are still here with us and we continue to enjoy assisting them as they need us. It’s nice having a close family.
