David Simms Jr.

I'm the type of person who thinks most bios are boring versions of a Resume' but I don't think that they have to be that way so I'm going to try my best to make this a bit more personal and interesting. I was very fortunate to have grown up with two excellent parents who are still together to this day. I played in a local Punk Rock band for several years with my best friends but I always held a good work ethic and usually think differently from people. I loved going surfing as much as I could too. I can't get enough of the water. I grew up working in the family business when I was only around 8 years old. We had a computer business at the time in a town so small that we only had one stoplight and no Walmart. I consider it my father's greatest accomplishment and it still impresses me that he built it from nothing, no one handed him a dime during the process. I had hoped I would end up with it one day, but it just wasn't the right move at that time, he missed his parents, and needed to move. So, he sold it around the time I was getting married so a few years later I moved too. I'm never afraid to tell someone the truth and speak from the heart thanks to my past. This really held with me as I grew up and married the love of my life at only 20 years old. She was 21, so only she could buy the alcohol. (haha) I worked in I.T. for many years after we moved from my hometown of Swansboro. I have always had a passion for computers and it's a skill that comes naturally to me. Hand me a computer and I can do just about anything with it. After a while though, I decided to make it more of a hobby and pick a path for business, I even went and got my Bachelor's Degree in Business. I have always wanted to own and run a company that not only benefited me, but others too. I didn't want to just have employees though, I wanted to surround myself with people way smarter than me because if you're the smartest one in the room, you're in the wrong room. At this point, I ended up becoming the Publisher of a Living Magazine in Charlotte, NC for several years until we eventually got tired of the cold weather and needed a change, so we moved to Florida, as far down south as we could in Naples! We lived there for over 10 years developing our skills and becoming who we are today. We loved living in our Vacation spot and the fact that so many people come to visit you there so you never have to travel, the fun came to us! It was very hard at first and we struggled for many years, but it made us stronger and my family was always there to have our backs when it got too rough. While we were doing that, my father was building something out of nothing again, but it all started with his simple career with United Healthcare. until he grew it into The Enrollment Center right before COVID happened. At the time I was running Eaglesong, my Recruiting company down in Florida that I still have to this day, but there was an opportunity to help the family business and to continue its growth so Dad doesn't have to work so hard. He always dreamed of relaxing on a boat someday anyhow, so it was worth the move up to South Carolina. Plus, I got to see all the people he helps on a daily basis and I wanted to be a part of that. After some planning, I now own the Under 65 portion of the business. I've always held my Insurance License intact in case I needed it, and now was the time. I had some experience in the past with UHC as well but not to the extent that he did. I am also on the Leadership team of The Enrollment Center alongside my wife and Brittany. I may be different from my Dad in many ways but his business side stuck with me all these years. I've been in the corporate world though and learned how annoying a big corporation can be to deal with as a customer. I will do what I can to make sure we still give the service to our customers as if we were just your local mom-and-pop Insurance shop, and really, we are. I for one am proud to be playing a larger part in it now. (and so is our dog, Tenchi, he's loving his new home!) When I'm not working you'll find me trying out a different Beer at the local Brewery or grilling out listening to music with some friends.
